Hybrid Poem
Reflection
What is the aspect of the process you find to be the most creative?

The most creative part of the process was the unpredictability of it. Since each person only added one word, no one could fully control the direction or mood of the poem — it evolved organically, word by word. That sense of surprise forced me to think differently about language and rhythm. Then, when I brought it to you (ChatGPT) to add verses, the creativity shifted again — it became a hybrid act, combining human spontaneity with guided digital interpretation. The creativity was in how all those small, separate voices wove together into something that none of us could have written alone.

How did it feel to lose individual authorship?

At first, it felt strange to let go of ownership — like releasing control over the poem’s meaning. But as the piece grew, it became more about connection than control. Losing individual authorship actually made the work feel bigger than me; it became a shared expression rather than a personal one. When the AI joined in, that feeling deepened — it blurred the line between human and digital creativity. In the end, I didn’t feel like I lost authorship so much as I shared it, and that sharing made the poem more alive and unexpected.
